Karolina Chmielewska

Karolina Chmielewska is Policy and Communications Officer at the Cobalt Institute. She joined in 2026 from the European Commission, where she worked on EU raw materials policy in DG GROW, contributing to the implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act and the RESourceEU Action Plan.

In her role, she supports the Institute’s policy and communications work to promote the responsible and sustainable production and use of cobalt by developing policy materials, monitoring political and regulatory developments, and supporting engagement with policymakers, industry, and key stakeholders through communications and events.

With a background in national security and defence, Karolina is particularly interested in the geopolitics of resources and energy security. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations (Strategic Studies) from Jagiellonian University.
